"Arch 22"
Banjul, 1996

The "Arch-22" structure was built by the AFPRC government in 1996. It stands over the entrance of Independence Drive near the Banjul circle. The structure is quite large, and some would say out of place with the surroundings. It can be seen from across the mouth of the river in Barra. Plans call for a restaurant to open in the top of the "arch".

A statue of the "unknown soldier" can be seen near the base of the "arch". The soldier is carrying a baby in one hand, making the peace sign with the other hand, and has a rifle strapped across his back.
