The Gambia Studies Series

by David P. Gamble

The concept of this series arose from the fact that researchers who have worked in The Gambia are under an obligation to supply the appropriate Gambian institutions (The National Archives, the National Library, the Gambian Cultural Archives or the National Museum) with copies of relevant material.

The items in the series can be divided into linguistic material (texts in Gambian languages with translations, dictionaries, grammars, for which there is a limited demand) and bibliographical material (part of an ongoing project of updating the General Bibliography of The Gambia up to 31 December 1977, published in 1979 by G.K. Hall of Boston).

Typescripts are prepared which can be revised or enlarged as new data comes to hand, and which can be photocopied and bound for the use of other Gambian researchers and interested libraries.
